CANCELED - Freemanville Road Bridge Project/Detour Open House

*** UPDATE ***

This meeting, scheduled for March 31, has been canceled. It will be rescheduled for later this spring (most likely), closer to the implementation of the Freemanville Road detour.

*** ORIGINAL POST (no longer valid since this meeting has been postponed) ***

All are invited to an Open House on March 31 about what’s next for Freemanville Road, part of which will close this spring – along with all of Landrum Road – while a bridge is being replaced.

The bridge in question along Freemanville Road spans Cooper Sandy Creek south of Providence Road and north of Landrum Road. The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT), whose inspectors determined that a new bridge there was needed, is overseeing the entire project including construction and corresponding detours. (In other words, the City has no direct involvement.)

The public forum on the bridge’s closure – and, as importantly, its impact of traffic flow due to necessary detours – is set to run from 5:30-7 p.m. that Tuesday in City Hall’s Council Chambers.  Anyone can drop in to share their opinions with, ask questions to project team members, view displays showing GDOT’s proposed detour, and get additional information on Landrum Road’s closure.
