The Greenprint

The City of Milton's "Greenprint" will strive to identify and deliver appropriate usage and improvements on greenspace properties that respect Milton’s rural heritage while prioritizing conservation, wildlife, and natural resources.

Visit the project page at: miltonga.gov/greenprint to view draft concepts for all six greenspaces. The City held several workshops in 2023 at which people could weigh in on what should -- and should not -- go on these properties. More work (including public input) will be done in 2025 in order to complete the Greenprint.

Milton Greenspace Bond

Milton residents take great pride in the City’s rural heritage and natural beauty. That’s why, in 2016, 82.86% of voters approved $25 million in bonds to acquire land for parks, trails and greenspace including conservation land, wildlife habitat and natural areas. Greenspace areas set aside for passive use, with no development.

In fiscal year 2019, the City kicked this initiative into high gear by acquiring more than 248 acres. These purchases range from 106 acres off Lackey Road, to a 4.8 acre parcel off Webb Road. They add to 130 acres set aside for passive use at the Former Milton Country Club, which the City bought in January 2018. The City continue  to seek other opportunities to utilize the remainder of its greenspace bond funding.

Read the official City Council Resolution (No. 16-08-379), dated August 15, 2016, regarding the Greenspace Bond criteria.

The Milton City Park and Preserve (previously referred to as the former Milton Country Club) consists of 7 acres of "active" property along with 130 acres of "passive" property that cannot be developed or accommodate traditional recreational programs.

The "active component" includes the Milton City Pool, the Milton Tennis Center and the Community Center -- a multi-room structure that can be rented and is home to recreational programs and events. In April 2022, the City opened the first of what will eventually be several trails winding through the "passive" part of Milton City Park and Preserve -- a 2.5-mile loop (or 1.25 miles each way).
