Junior Rangers sworn in at PRAB meeting after completing 'Academy'

Post Date:08/19/2024 5:02 PM
Jen Young swearing in RangersA big, badge-worthy welcome to Milton’s newest Junior Rangers.

Eight children were given that naturally noble distinction – and earned accompanying badges after reciting an “oath” – at last Thursday night’s Parks and Recreation Advisory Board meeting. (Two others earned the same honor as part of the same program but couldn't make the meeting.)

Under the guidance of “Ranger Jen” Young (the City’s Outdoor Recreation Supervisor), these young nature enthusiasts spent four weeks this July exploring Milton parks, investigating habitats, learning ecological lessons, and having a great time doing it as part of the first ever Junior Ranger Academy. Other pictures show some of the individuals sporting nature pins of various types and posing with the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board.

If your child also wants to be a Junior Ranger, and doesn't want to until the next academy, they can become one at any time and on their own. Just go to www.miltonga.gov/JuniorRangers, download and complete the Activity Guide by getting out-and-about in Milton’s picturesque nature stops.

Once you're done, let us know when you’re done by emailing parksandrec@miltonga.gov or calling 678-242-2575.
