Median added as part of Crabapple Road streetscape project

Post Date:08/29/2024 9:56 AM
August29. Full Median viewThe Crabapple Road streetscape revamp is underway.

While it required approval from the Georgia Department of Transportation since Crabapple Road is State Route 372 at that point, this is a City-run project. (As such, it is distinct from what GDOT crews are doing by the Crabapple/Heritage Walk/Crabapple Chase Drive roundabout.) By starting now, the City should make sure that this portion of the project is complete and everything looks good before thousands flock to downtown on October 5 for Crabapple Fest.

The most noticeable work this week involves a new median that, in just over a day, has sprouted in the middle of the road generally between Olde Blind Dog and Knuckies. Eventually, this will be landscaped to add color, beauty, and a little extra nature.

While it won’t necessarily all happen right away, this work will include a new mid-block crosswalk between the two sets on businesses on opposite sides of the street -- roughly outside Peace Love and Pizza and the New York Butcher Shoppe. After Crabapple Fest, a pedestrian hybrid beacon as well as a mast arm pole across the road (to help alert passing drivers) will be installed.

This is all part of a project that aims to make Crabapple Road more visually appealing, safer, and business-friendly. To learn more about it, go to https://cleargov.com/georgia/fulton/city/milton/projects/1231/crabapple-pedestrian-and-streetscape.
