The Milton Equestrian Committee will meet Wednesday night to discuss two upcoming outreach opportunities – Crabapple Fest in a few weeks, then Meet the Neighbors next year – among other matters.
The September 18th meeting will start at 6:30 p.m. in City Hall’s Council Chambers. It is open to the public and can also be viewed online at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sy257FI0E7E.
The MEC consists of seven members, appointed by the Mayor and City Council, who work closely with City staff and leaders to provide insights on key issues that affect Milton’s equestrian lifestyle. Through their work, they help maintain Milton's reputation as a haven for horse enthusiasts, ensuring that the city remains a supportive and thriving environment for equestrian activities.
Wednesday’s meeting will begin with City Staff updates on:
- Outdoor Recreation: The Parks and Recreation Department staff will share the latest on outdoor recreational activities of particular interest to the equestrian community.
- Large Lot Incentives Project: Community Development staff will discuss efforts to create incentives for those with large lot properties – an initiative that, in turn, could impact the bottom lines for those with horse farms.
Members of MEC subcommittees then will present reports, starting with one on the development of and improvements to local equestrian facilities.
Then the focus turns to PR/Marketing and Community Relations. Members will share plans for the Milton Equestrian Committee to connect with the community – as it does every year – by having a table on October 5 at Crabapple Fest.
While that’s imminent, MEC will also talk about – and ideally set a date for – the 2025 edition of Meet the Neighbors. This City event features equestrian-themed vendors, activities, and education.
After this meeting, the next Milton Equestrian Committee meeting is scheduled for October 16.
