About 100 share valuable views on Deerfield's future at 'Open House'

Post Date:09/18/2024 4:05 PM
#DiscussionAbout 100 people came out Tuesday evening to help the City chart the Deerfield area’s future – engaging in conversation, gaining insights, and, yes, even filling subject-specific boards with their “votes” and sticky notes.

The “Open House” took place at Stonecreek Church, with stations located around the room focused on details that could help define this part of southeastern Milton for years to come. For instance, people put stickers to identify what architectural styles they liked best, talked about parks and open spaces, used string to lay their common routes, and offered thoughts on what they’d most like to be able to do in their ideal Deerfield. Members of the City’s project team – including members of multiple Milton departments as well as our partners at Cooper Carry – on hand listened, learned, and loved interacting with members of our great community.

This all added up to a lot of people, sharing a lot of ideas, and helping generate a lot of excitement for what’s to come in an area that includes parts of Highway 9, Windward Parkway, Morris Road, Deerfield Parkway, and what else is in that general vicinity. This public feedback will help inform a “Design Manual” so developers know what the community wants for this area, as well as a dynamic, forward-looking Deerfield Implementation Plan.
