The transformation of 79 acres in Milton City Park and Preserve’s “North Woods” is underway.
Crews have been working for weeks on this project, with many months to go before its complete. As these pictures show, they’ve installed silt fences all around the area to prevent erosion as well as pollution from entering into ponds and the creek running through the City property. Concrete golf carts paths have been torn out, too, as part of the effort to create a more natural environment. But in Earth-friendly fashion, this concrete isn’t going away; in fact, it will be ground up then reused as part of new trails’ subbase.
These represent the first of many steps in the planned “Phase 2” upgrades in this City greenspace. These include a 10-foot wide decomposed granite path, stormwater and hydrology enhancements, removal of invasive species, and fostering healthier habitats for plants and wildlife.
