About 1,500 superheroes, skeletons, abducting aliens, princesses, and various spookily cute creatures – even people dressed up as regular kids and parents! – converged Saturday in downtown Milton for Carvin’ in Crabapple, the City’s signature Halloween event.
As perfect as this weekend’s weather was, the festivities were even better. All you had to do is walk around Broadwell Pavilion to see so many families having a great time creating awesome autumn crafts, shooting baskets
on a gaming inflatable, or playing Tic Tac Toe and on the playground. The later-than-in-the-past-event-time also allowed for a new feature for those wanting to partake in another fall tradition: watching football on a big screen set up just for the occasion.
And it wouldn’t be Carvin’ in Crabapple without, well, carving pumpkins. The Reid Casey real estate team stepped up big time by donating 100 pumpkins, while others brought their own. The City of Milton supplied the carving kits so that people could safely make their very own jack-o’-lanterns. ‘Tis the season, after all!
The event ran up to dinner time, with Silvas Tacos and Williams Street Food feeding lines of customers. Yet Halloween is more associated with sweets, and so was this year’s Carvin’ in Crabapple. Vendors sold cookie dough, donuts, flavored ice, popcorn, and caramel apples. That’s not to mention the Trunk-or-Treat on the other side of Broadwell Road, with companies and groups opening up their trunks and hearts to give candy to happy youngsters. A handful of trunk-or-treaters, as well as a few adults, also went home with “Best Costume” trophies for their creativity and getting in the Halloween spirit.
A big THANK YOU to all who came out this weekend! We felt it was Milton’s best Carvin’ in Crabapple to date, and – even then, can’t wait for the next one. And we hope that all of Milton has a great Halloween!
