Equestrian Committee to meet with focus on 2025 events and goals

Post Date:12/17/2024 2:26 PM

#Girl RiderThe Milton Equestrian Committee will hold its final meeting of the year on Wednesday with a focus on 2025 – including meetings, events, and goals to ideally accomplish.

All are welcome to attend the December 18 meeting, which will begin at 6:30 p.m. in City Hall’s Council Chambers (2006 Heritage Walk).

Sometimes referred to as MEC, the Milton Equestrian Committee considers matters of importance to the equestrian community and farm owners – offering advocacy, guidance, and insights to City staff and leaders. The seven individuals on MEC are appointed by Milton’s City Councilmembers and Mayor.

As with most of its meetings, Wednesday’s proceedings will begin with discussions on a handful of general topics. These include equestrian facilities, PR/marketing and community relations, and farm ownership. The latter will feature an update on an effort to create – and eventually mail out – informational postcards to Milton farm owners.

Then the Equestrian Committee will look forward to the coming year. For instance, they plan to once again help coordinate two events:

  • Meet the Neighbors, which showcases products, animals, and people with equestrian connections – with the audience being those with horses and those who love them
  • Birmingham Park Clean-Up Day, during which anyone can join MEC members in clearing trails and picking up trash in a 200-park that’s beloved by equestrian trail riders

There will be talk, too, of MEC’s upcoming meeting schedule as well as opportune times for its members to address Milton’s City Council.

The final December 18 agenda item is “2025 Goal Setting” – so more of a step-back look at what this committee hopes to accomplish over the next 12 months.
