Milton’s Design Review Board members have a packed agenda for their Tuesday meeting – including considerations of three demolition requests, five courtesy reviews, and a pair of final reviews.
The March 4 meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in City Hall’s Council Chambers. People can attend in-person or watch online at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CbN-1cpp46Q.
Appointed by Milton’s Mayor and Councilmembers, those on the Design Review Board (or DRB) review plans for new construction, new site development, and certain significant alterations to structures. Part of the public hearing process (so other City committees may review some of the same matters), members make recommendations to Milton’s Community Development Director.
The DRB is also the lone City committee responsible for voting on demolition requests, three sets of which are on Tuesday’s agenda:
- For a house, carport, well building, and concrete driveway at 13805 HOPEWELL ROAD, a 1.155-acre property between Bethany Way and Dew Road
- For a house and pool at 13595 HOPEWELL ROAD, a 5.15-acre parcel between Old Northpark Lane and Sandy Creek Farm Road
- For a 3-sided pole barn at 2095 MOUNTAIN ROAD, a 2.08-acre lot near Westbrook Road
“Courtesy Reviews” will then be conducted for the following:
- For a “rural event facility” use permit that, if granted, would allow for certain events with no more than 300 attendees at the newly constructed Pardue Family Center that’s part of Ebenezer Methodist Church at the intersection of Arnold Mill and Cox roads.
- A variance to allow a proposed detached garage to be located in front of an existing single-family home at 15060 FREEMANVILLE ROAD, which is between White Columns Drive and Deerhaven Lane
- Very nearby at 100 DEERHAVEN LANE, to allow variances so a proposed cabana accessory structure and pickleball courts can be in front of a single-family home
Variances to allow an existing home, proposed addition, and proposed patio to encroach a 50-foot undisturbed stream buffer and the home and proposed addition to encroach the 75-foot impervious setback – in both cases at 575 GLEN NATIONAL DRIVE
- A building/architecture review of a Northside Medical Office Building at 15755 BIRMINGHAM HIGHWAY by Birmingham Crossroads
Tuesday evening’s meeting will end with a pair of “Final Reviews” by the Design Review Board.
The first is for the site and landscape plan in phase II of Chadwick Village, a development with three commercial buildings along Arnold Mill Road/State Route 140.
For the last time, DRB members will review the design of a proposed simple mural on part of one exterior wall in the Fifth Third Bank building in the Publix plaza at the intersection of Highway 9 and Bethany Bend.
