If you care about what’s in Milton’s next active park, mark your calendar for March 25.

That is when the City’s project team will share and seek citizens’ feedback on three new concepts for the 24.42-acre property off 300 Deerfield Parkway. These alternatives incorporate priorities and ideas derived from the community-driven Parks and Recreation Master Plan as well as public input specific to this location that was more recently shared in a survey and earlier meeting.

New proposals will be unveiled on Thursday, March 20, at a Parks and Recreation Advisory Board meeting, which starts at 6 p.m. in City Hall’s Council Chambers. As with other PRAB meetings, this one is open to citizens to attend and even to share public comment. After it ends, the City’s project team will incorporate PRAB’s input into three concept plans.

These will be available for viewing, and opining on, at the March 25 event at Milton Municipal Court (which is in the back Police building of the Public Safety Complex at 13690 Highway 9). It will be open-house style, meaning people can drop-in anytime between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. that Tuesday.

After seeing the proposed newly developed park concepts, attendees can share thoughts through “votes” and sticky notes. They can also talk to project team members from the City and its partners at Lose Design – discussing design options, asking questions, and giving their opinion on what they think makes the most sense.

The City purchased the new proposed active park site in 2024 in two installments. All along, the understanding has been that it will include athletic fields plus other features and amenities to be determined later. The City has prioritized – consistent with its approach to all major projects and plans – seeking out and listening to community members for their valuable opinions before making those determinations.

At its March 25 input meeting, the City hopes for a solid turnout of neighbors, athletes, coaches, outdoor enthusiasts, and others with a vested interest in this park and the surrounding area. After this event, the project team will digest the shared viewpoints and use them to create a prevailing concept plan for this future Deerfield park.
