Milton is joining communities statewide in celebrating Georgia Cities Week to highlight services, programs, and people in municipal government, while offering something extra for our community.
For the last 26 years, and again in 2025, the Georgia Municipal Association spearheads Georgia Cities Week to provide local governments opportunities to share information, highlight projects, and build on relationships with citizens and other key stakeholders. This year’s edition runs from April 21 through 26 with a theme of “Imagine the Possible,” playing off how cities think big to make big, innovative, impactful improvements.
That spirit is evident in Milton, which has a proud history of community-driven visionary efforts that lead to significant, intentional, effective progress. Right now, at least four such initiatives are in the works: the Deerfield Implementation Plan imagining the future of this pivotal area in southeastern Milton (www.miltonga.gov/Deerfield), the Arnold Mill Small Area Plan (www.miltonga.gov/ArnoldMill) charting possibilities in southwestern Milton, the transportation-focused Safety in Action project (www.miltonga.gov/SafetyinAction), and planning for a new 24-plus acre active park off Deerfield Parkway (www.miltonga.gov/DeerfieldActivePark).
Public engagement on those and other projects happen year-round. So do many other valuable things that the City does on a daily basis such as maintaining and improving parks, upkeeping and exploring ways to upgrade Milton’s transportation network, hosting popular events and programs, as well as providing critical police and firefighting services.
Georgia Cities Week is a time to better understand, and appreciate, what Milton has to offer. And during this week, the City plans to go above-and-beyond by offering additional activities to connect with our community:
During this event from 3:30 to 5 p.m., people can mingle with the chiefs, as well as officers and firefighters, while enjoying cool and relatively healthy acai bowls and smoothies. Even better, there’s a 25% discount on items (which aligns with Cocobowlz “Happy Hour”).
The following Monday on April 28, City employees will reflect on the week-that-was while picking up a proclamation for Georgia Cities Week at that evening’s City Council meeting.
While this is technically a celebration of municipal governments, Team Milton looks at things a little differently. We see Georgia Cities Week as also a celebration of the vibrant, caring community who we proudly serve and who make our team members’ days brighter. The City is extraordinary grateful for you all and what you do to make Milton a special, welcoming, and altogether wonderful place.
