Downtown Milton will fill with runners – something drivers need to be mindful about – this Saturday morning for the 4th Annual Crabapple Derby Dash 5K, benefiting Byrdhouse Ministries.
While there will be activity beforehand, the marked roads shown on this map (specifically Heritage Walk, the Milton portion of Mayfield Road, Charlotte Drive, and part of Mid Broadwell Road) will be closed to through traffic between approximately 7:45 and 9 a.m. on May 3. Barricades will be set up, and Milton Police officers will be stationed along the route to direct traffic.
Given all that, please give yourself extra time to drive, take alternative routes, or (if you can) put off whatever you need to do near downtown Milton until after 9 a.m. on Saturday.
And if you are a teenager is scheduled to take his or her SAT that Saturday morning at Milton High School, give yourself lots of extra time to reach the test site and plan your route accordingly – such as coming in via the school’s Freemanville Road back entrance or from the north side of Birmingham Highway.
The Derby Dash race and festival features a 5K, the Colt Canter Fun Run, live music, and more. All this running and fun supports a great cause. Specifically, proceeds benefit Byrdhouse Ministries, which offers therapeutic services, wellness workshops, spiritual direction, and retreats on its picturesque 6-acre Milton property.
