Planning Commission to delve into proposed Deerfield text amendments

Post Date:04/28/2025 2:52 PM

H BuildingMilton’s Planning Commission will hold a “special called meeting” Wednesday to discuss potential City Code changes to align with the nearly complete, community-driven Deerfield Implementation Plan.

The April 30 meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in City Hall’s Council Chambers. Anyone can attend in-person or watch online at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P5o94ZGUuhM

Among other tasks, the Planning Commission evaluates and recommends to zoning ordinances, subdivision regulations, zoning maps, and overall planning processes. It’s part of the public hearing process, so other committees hear and weigh in on some of the same matters.

The Deerfield-related text amendments, for instance, are set to be taken up by the City Council next month, with a conclusive vote expected at the Council’s May 19 meeting.

Before that happens, the Planning Commission will review the draft proposals on Wednesday. (This is described as a “Special Called” meeting because it was not scheduled at the start of the year.)

The City has been working for months to chart a future for Deerfield that is vibrant, sustainable, and uniquely Milton and reflects citizens’ and key stakeholders’ input. For more on this multi-faceted project, go to www.miltonga.gov/Deerfield.

The proposed text amendments to City Code on Wednesday’s agenda would help make it possible for the vision in the Deerfield Implementation Plan to become a reality. These cover a lot of ground from the creation of “Sub Districts” to spelling out incentives that line up with key community goals to specifying requirements, and much more.
