On rainy days, there’s now a new waterway underneath Morris Road – or a stormwater-way, you could say – a critical
part of the multi-faceted project currently there.
The pictures on this post show how a stormwater drain is installed, what materials and steps make it happen, as well as the “why” where you see the liquid flowing out. The 72-inch stormwater drain is to key insuring water flows the right direction, preventing Morris Road or the nearby environs from flooding.
Crews are currently installing smaller (24-inch and 18-inch) stormwater pipes that will be vital in dispersing water off the upgraded roadway (once it’s all completed).
All this should be a big positive over the long haul. Temporarily, though, there will be rerouted traffic and intermittent delays. So residents should use caution and give themselves extra time to get extra time to get wherever they need to go in that area.
