Infested, diseased trees to come down at Bell Memorial Park, MCPP

Post Date:06/04/2025 12:18 PM
Park Tree Fence closeDozens of infested and diseased trees are set to come down next week Bell Memorial Park as well as Milton City Park and Preserve, a project that could prompt walkers to slightly alter their routes for their safety.

While the City hates to lose any tree, sometimes doing so is necessary to help other nearby trees thrive. And sometimes, unfortunately, a tree simply dies.

Crews from One Two Tree will remove 43 trees, 40 of them in Bell Memorial Park, between June 9 and June 13. As with most outdoor projects, weather and other factors could impact this timeline. Most of the trees coming down have pine beetles or diseases of some sort. (This post shows when a tree fell down previously at the same park, in that case because of severe weather.)

At Bell, 36 of the trees-coming-down are along the rustic trail on the park's east side; the other four sit in and around the Mark Law Arboretum. Most of the corresponding trails should remain open, though it's possible small sections will have to close.

Three dead and dying pine trees will be removed at Milton City Park and Preserve, two of them along Highgrove Club Drive and the other near the Community Center/parking lot trailhead. The trail itself should stay open, even as people may have to divert slightly to walk around cones and posted signs.

We appreciate everyone's patience and understanding so this needed work can be done.
