Help celebrate exemplary City employees who have gone above-and-beyond

Post Date:06/11/2025 9:34 AM

#1 BEST HORIZONTAL Nationawide in Service Group MCPP_CroppedHas someone who works for the City of Milton gone above-and-beyond for you, your family, your colleague, or our community?

If so, we want to hear about it so we can celebrate them. Simply take a minute or two to nominate him or her at www.miltonga.gov/CoreValues.

Several years ago, the City launched its Core Value Awards to recognize individuals who represent the best of what Milton is all about. It could be through a single exemplary act or as part of a longer pattern. The point is, these individuals did more than their basic job description requirements to make a significant, positive, cheer-worthy impact.

The City wants such outstanding public servants to feel seen and celebrated, both to encourage such excellence and also to serve as a model for others. Anyone who works for the City – whether as a firefighter, in the Police Department, or out of City Hall in various capacities – qualifies to be commended.

Dozens have taken home awards since the program’s 2022 inception. Since then, too, the entire City government was recognized as No. 1 in service among hundreds of #Chris Bradshaw familymunicipalities nationwide, based off the views of citizens in the scientific National Community Survey.

And we want to continue that momentum. Team Milton members can be nominated in any of these five categories, each of which corresponds to one of the City’s core values:

  • TEAMWORK, specifically inclusive collaboration and courageous engagement
  • RURAL HERITAGE, for those whose actions help protect Milton’s rural look and feel
  • SERVICE, through interactions in which team members go the extra mile to find solutions
  • OWNERSHIP, for embracing challenges and proudly, successfully seeing them through
  • LEADERSHIP, walking the talk by being visible, accessible, engaged, and inspiring

In the past, about half the Core Value award nominations have come from citizens while the rest come from fellow City staff. The deadline to submit one is August 4, which will give a representative multi-departmental awards committee sufficient time to sift through the nominations ahead of an internal City event later this summer.
