Those between ages 14 and 19 curious about working in law enforcement can dive deep into what a career in this important public service is all about by joining the Milton Police’s inaugural, hands-on Teen Police Academy.
Between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. from July 7 to 11, participants in this free program will get an immersive, behind-the-scenes experience led by Milton Police team members. In other words, they will learn while working side-by-side with real officers, using real tools, and participating in real training.
To reserve a spot or to get more information, contact MPD’s Community Outreach Officer Rebecca Tidwell at rebecca.tidwell@miltonga.gov.
You can also find details about this program at www.miltonga.gov/TeenPoliceAcademy. This webpage outlines much of what Teen Police Academy participants will do during the week, from police gear demonstrations to CPR training to field sobriety testing to accident reconstruction and much more.
Each day brings something new. And more than just lectures, this interactive program can build understanding and trust between young people and law enforcement personnel through connections, experiences, and honest conversations.
Space is limited. Preference is given to Milton residents, though teens from outside the city are welcome to apply.
