Little River Farms view along Batesville RoadMilton’s Planning Commission is set to convene Wednesday to consider a possible housekeeping change to Little River Farms’ Use Permits as well as the latest developments related to the City’s  Comprehensive Plan.

The June 25 meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in City Hall’s Council Chambers (2006 Heritage Walk). People can attend in-person or watch this meeting online at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q1pZlU76Ku4.

Consisting of seven individuals appointed by Milton’s Mayor and Councilmembers, the Planning Commission evaluates and recommends changes to zoning ordinances, subdivision regulations, zoning maps, and overall planning processes. It also weighs in on variance requests and is part of the City’s public hearing process, meaning other City boards discuss and share their thoughts on some of the same agenda items.

On Wednesday, the Planning Commission will begin by reviewing and voting on the “minutes” – or official record – from their last three meetings, the most recent one occurring on June 4. Then its members will take up a matter that the Design Review Board considered earlier this month.

It relates to Little River Farms, located on 14505 Batesville Road in western Milton. This business has existing Use Permits for a Rural Event Facility and Bed and Breakfast.

Little River Farms’ owner is requesting a revision to the property’s size – decreasing it from 47.7 acres to 35.87 acres. If approved, nothing else about the Use Permits would change.

The only other item on the June 25 agenda is a “Discussion of Upcoming Comprehensive Plan Update.” City staff have regularly been sharing updates on Milton’s progress in tackling elements of the 2040 Comprehensive Plan; you can learn more about that at www.miltonga.gov/ComprehensivePlan.

After this meeting, the Planning Commission is next scheduled to convene on July 23.
