Volunteers carrying cans Cambridge HighMilton is blessed to have many young people who devote so much of their time, energy, and hearts to positively impacting our community.

And we, in the City, want to celebrate that dedication and difference-making.

To that end, we are launching the City of Milton Student Service Award. To learn more about it and to submit a teenager for recognition, go to www.miltonga.gov/StudentServiceAward.

This new program is open only to graduating high school seniors who call Milton home and who volunteer through a City-approved organization.

Anyone who puts in the hours, in accordance with the specified requirements, can earn the award. (So there’s no limit to the number of recipients.) At least 75% of eligible volunteer hours – so roughly 169 of the 225 hours for a Silver-level award or 188 of the 250 hours needed for a Gold-level award – must have been undertaken within Milton City limits.

And while final submissions aren’t due until March 31, 2026, the City wants students to know about the program now so they can start early by volunteering and tracking their hours. The awards will be given out at the first City Council meeting next May.

The intent of this program is to encourage volunteerism among younger generations – service that strengthens our community, enhances understanding, forges connections, and builds character. Milton is a better place when people young and old step up, a notion that is well worth celebrating.
