Milton Police once again earn prestigious national CALEA accreditation

Post Date:08/16/2025 10:22 AM

Larger.CALEA_GoldStandardAfter an extensive process that demonstrated its high standards and strong commitment to the community, Milton Police have – once again – earned a prestigious national accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA).

“Earning this accreditation is not about passing a test once every few years,” said Chief Jason Griffin. “It’s about the work we do every single day to meet and exceed national standards for how we serve our community. I’m incredibly proud of our team for continuing to operate at this level.”

Only about 750 of the roughly 18,000 law enforcement agencies in the United States are CALEA accredited. Milton is among just 37 such agencies to have achieved both this distinction as well as State Certification from the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police.

Those findings contributed to the Commission’s comprehensive review of how Milton Police rate on approximately 200 national standards covering everything from effective policies to productive training to inclusive community engagement to legitimate accountability.

The resulting recognition – which was announced earlier this month after Chief Griffin fielded real-time questions from assessors at a CALEA conference in Arkansas – reflects how this team of 50 sworn officers and 10 non-sworn members serve the community with professionalism, transparency, and excellence. This is the fourth time Milton Police have earned this honor, including its third re-accreditation.

“Accreditation is a team effort, and this award belongs to every member of the Milton Police Department,” said Griffin. “I’m thankful for our staff, our City leadership, and our residents, who all play a role in helping us keep Milton safe.”
