In a medical emergency, helicopters are sometimes the most efficient way to swiftly
transport a patient to where they need to go to get the best possible care.
And you might see these very kinds of helicopters flying over northwest Milton the week of August 18 – though, thankfully, NOT for actual medical crises.
Rather, these choppers will circulate as part of an Air Methods EMS class for the Milton Fire-Rescue Department. This curriculum will familiarize Milton firefighters with what happens in a medical emergency air operation, including practicing their specific roles in ensuring the optimal health and safety of all involved.
Weather permitting, a helicopter will land and then take off again around midday on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of this week. (It’s over three days so every shift can be trained.)
So if you see such aircraft coming in and out of that area, there’s no cause for concern. Quite the opposite: This will ensure firefighters are even better prepared for when a helicopter is needed for an actual media emergency.
