Voter registration deadline approaching to participate in 2025 municipal election

Post Date:09/24/2025 1:15 PM

vote.graphicMilton’s next municipal election will be on November 4, though there also will be opportunities for registered voters to participate before then.

Mayor and three City Council seats are on this fall’s ballot, though only one of those races is contested – Council District 3/Post 1, where incumbent Jan Jacobus faces Ike Yancy. A District 3 Georgia Public Service Commissioner contest will be on the ballot as well.

The 2025 municipal election is being run by Fulton County (not the City of Milton).

A citizen must be registered to vote at their Milton residence to participate in this election. To confirm your registration status, go to the Georgia Secretary of State’s My Voter Page at https://mvp.sos.ga.gov/. If you’re not officially registered or need to change your home address, you have until October 6 to do so. Pertinent information on registering to vote can be found HERE: https://mvp.sos.ga.gov/s/olvr-home.

Qualified voters can apply now through October 24 for this election’s absentee ballot. To request an absentee ballot, go to: https://securemyabsenteeballot.sos.ga.gov/s/. Once someone gets their absentee ballot, they can make their choices and then either mail in the ballot or drop it in a Fulton County drop box on or before Election Day.

In-person Advance Voting, meanwhile, runs from October 14 through October 31. Registered voters can cast their ballots on those dates, during the hours polls are open, at any Fulton County polling place including the Milton Library. (Note: This year’s Advance Voting locations are different than they were in Milton’s 2023 municipal election.)

On Election Day itself, which is November 4, people can only vote at their assigned polling place. (Again, these locations differ from what they were two years ago.) The Secretary of State’s My Voter Page will show you yours. Election Day locales will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. that Tuesday.
