Freemanville Road will shut down next week in both directions from the Providence Road roundabout to Redd Road for a needed Fulton County Government Water Services project.
The closure should start around 9 a.m. on Monday, October 13, and end by 5 p.m. on Friday, October 17. While actions like this understandably cause inconvenience, this was timed to coincide with Fulton County Schools’ Fall Break in hopes of minimizing the overall disruption.
Why is this happening? Fulton County Water had to install a new watermain, and doing so requires tearing up and putting back together part of Freemanville Road. Next week, crews will pour stamped colored concrete where there was an open cut to place the watermain pipe, as well as repave the road section impacted by the pipe crossing.
The detour route is the same as what was used when the watermain was installed earlier this year. Traffic that would have normally gone southbound on Freemanville will be rerouted to Redd Road, then Hagood/Bethany Road, then to Providence Road. Northbound traffic, meanwhile, will go to Providence, then Bethany/Hagood, and then to Redd Road. Residents who live on the impacted part of Freemanville will be able to get in and out of their homes.
In advance, we appreciate everyone’s understanding and patience! The aim is that this days-long road closure will make it easier for crews to finish their work faster and safer.
