Milton Police debut two new motorcycles, specially certified 'operators'

PD Motors closeupAs some may have seen around town, including at Crabapple Fest, Milton Police now have two motorcycles as well as two specially certified officers to ride them.

Motorcycles can enhance law enforcement agencies’ ability to respond more quickly and nimbly to certain calls and incidents. That makes them valuable assets that further bolster how well our officers, and specifically MPD’s Traffic Unit, serve our citizens.

Understanding the importance and challenge of driving these vehicles safely, Milton Police Officers Jason Jackson and Brian Stafford recently completed “Motor School” – one of the most demanding training programs any officer can take on.

The two-week (80-hour) course included night rides, precision riding, long rides, and intensive skill development. It ended last month when their instructor officially pinned Officers Jackson and Stafford as certified operators after a ride in the North Georgia mountains.

The City appreciates those officers’ impressive efforts, as well as the continued generosity of the Milton First Responders Foundation (MFRF). This local non-profit made possible the purchase of the two vehicles and the corresponding gear. (You can learn more about MFRF at https://miltonfirstresponders.org/.) The Milton Police are grateful for the support of that dedicated organization, as well as the Mayor and City Council.
