City welcomes, thanks former military during annual Veterans Breakfast

Post Date:11/12/2025 10:58 AM
Vets BreakfastA few days ahead of Veterans Day, the City welcomed men and women who served in the U.S. military to City Hall for breakfast, camaraderie, and the opportunity to be thanked by a grateful community.

Last Saturday’s Veterans Breakfast at City Hall featured Retired U.S. Army Colonel Richard White as its keynote speaker. White brought a broad array of professional experience to his remarks, including service over 31 years on three continents, two of those years in combat in Vietnam. White is also a military scholar, co-author of a book on U.S. military policy in El Salvador, President and CEO of the Georgia Military Veterans Hall of Fame, and a deacon at Clear Springs Baptist Church in Johns Creek (where the father of three and grandfather of four now lives).

Mayor Peyton Jamison welcomed veterans to the annual breakfast while thanking them for the sacrifice, courage, and service to our nation. Councilmembers Phil Cranmer, Doug Hene, and Jan Jacobus attended as well, while members of Scout BSA Troop 1459 and the Milton High orchestra participated in the ceremony.

The morning’s true stars, of course, were the veterans themselves. We in the City always look forward to this day every November, when we welcome former military members into our home at City Hall with gratitude for all that they’ve done.
