'Bring One for the Chipper' tree recycling event set for January 3

Post Date:12/09/2025 2:15 PM
YMSL removing tree from car 2"Bring One for the Chipper" -- the City's annual Christmas tree recycling event -- is back on Saturday, January 3, 2026.

This is a free opportunity for people to get rid of their past-their-prime trees responsibly; in fact, they'll help beautify two of Milton's beloved parks in the process. That's because wood chips produced when the trees are fed to, yes, "the chipper" will be transported to Mayfield Park and Birmingham Park to be spread amongst its trails.

The January 3 event will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., once again in Milton High School's back baseball parking lot. So that's off School Road, accessible either from Birmingham Highway or Freemanville Road. A big thanks, in advance, to our partners at Casey Tree Experts as well as the hard-working mother-son volunteers from the Young Men's Service League for helping make this event happen.

(Another option: Members of Cub Scout Troop 841 can pick your tree up at the end of your driveway on that very same Saturday! To reserve your pickup slot, go to https://www.t841.org/?page_id=300.)

While we'll be sad to say goodbye to these evergreen trees, "Bring One for the Chipper" will also give citizens an opportunity to bring life to a new tree. City staff will hand out (until we run out of them) 100 Eastern Redbud seedlings to whomever drops by the site during this event.
