Milton’s annual Pancake Breakfast with Santa ranks high among the reasons why we call now the most wonderful time of the year. And this past Saturday’s edition was probably the biggest, most festive, and altogether most wonderful yet!
About 1,200 people steadily flowed in and out of Fire Station 44 over a 3-hour span to feast on pancakes, take pictures with Santa Claus as well as “Frozen” characters, and generally revel in the holiday spirit.
That spirit took many forms, especially for kids. They concocted “reindeer food” to sprinkle on their lawns Christmas Eve, not to mention creating all sorts of cool Christmasy arts and crafts. Underwent transformations compliments of a masterful face painter. Bonded and posed with Anna, Elsa, Sven, and Olaf. And plenty more.
Not even the Grinch could steal the fun, mingling here, there, and everywhere in the station bay and outdoor tent. (Well, he DID
swipe several donated toys – only to be apprehended by our very own Milton Police SLO, Officer Pannell!)
To put things in perspective, Milton first responders cooked up an astounding 24 bags of 5-pound pancake mixes. Not to mention all the bacon, syrup, and then some consumed over the course of the morning. Firefighters proudly served up this yummy breakfast to whoever came through the line.
And for the second straight week, Santa Claus ventured down from the North Pole to hear from and take pictures with Milton families. If you were among them, we expect the free, professional photos to be available soon.
Thank you to everyone who came out Saturday morning to make this always special event that much more special! We especially appreciate all those who came with unwrapped toys, which went straight to North Fulton Community Charities to distribute to families in need. The Pancake Breakfast with Santa once again proved a perfect reminder of why and how Milton is such an amazing community.
