TVs, mini-fridges, phones, monitors, more recycled at electronics event

Actively loading Junkluggers truckComputer monitors, laptops, and phones. Batteries and strings of chords. Mini-fridges and even a wine chiller. And lots and lots of televisions.

Those are examples of the items that filed 2.5 truckloads -- carrying nearly 3 tons of items! -- this Saturday during Milton’s latest Electronics Recycling Event. Upwards of 150 vehicles came to Bell Memorial Park all morning, stopping briefly to have their stuff unloaded, then heading out within 10 minutes or less.

While the City does offer some places to self-recycle, events like these are important to cover the exceptions. Smartly, safely, responsibly disposing of electronics is especially important for two main reasons: it keeps chunky metallic/plastic+ items from clogging landfills, and they have the chance to be repurposed somehow for others.

That said, Saturday’s most interesting donation wasn’t an electronic: Rather, a generous resident came bearing 8 jars of pasta sauce. Our friends at Junkluggers – which worked with the City to collect and process the items – gladly accepted those jars and everything else.
