New Year’s Eve is often associated with fireworks. But in many parts of Milton, such explosive overhead bangs remain prohibited even over the upcoming holiday.
Earlier this year, a new state law took effect enabling municipalities to restrict firework use to protect horses. The City of Milton subsequently enacted a measure prohibiting someone from setting off fireworks within 200 yards of the border of any property that has equines. (The term “equines” includes horses, donkeys, ponies, and mules.) The map accompanying this post gives you a good sense of where such farms, and related restrictions, are.
Even before that action, loud fireworks could only be lit on a handful of days in Milton. New Year’s Eve (from 10 a.m. to 1 a.m. into the next day/year) and New Year’s Day (from 10 a.m. to midnight) are among those. And for locations that are further than 200 yards from an equine property,

fireworks can be set off on those days and times in Milton.
Still, because of the abundance of horse farms here, many parts of Milton are now off-limits for fireworks every day and night of the year.
