Firefighters will be active in the coming weeks at the City’s 39-acre property off Hopewell Road – not because of any emergency, but to better prepare them for future ones.

 

Through February 2, firefighters will do training in and around structures (some of which will be demolished soon) on this City-owned parcel. These are not “live fire” exercises, so they won’t involve flames or smoke.

 

Still, training efforts in different places like these are valuable for firefighters to practice working through different scenarios and improve potentially life-saving skills.

 

The training exercises will only happen during regular 9-to-5 business hours on weekdays. They will not be every day, nor should they impact neighbors. Still, we want to inform people in advance to minimize possible confusion or alarm.
