The Milton Sustainability Advisory Committee meets Tuesday to discuss a new Recycling and Solid Waste Management Plan, a document that will feature recommended policies, guidelines, and approaches that could affect people and businesses citywide.
People are welcome to attend the March 10 meeting, beginning at 5 p.m., inside City Hall’s Council Chambers (2006 Heritage Walk).
Also known as MSAC, this committee consists of members appointed by Milton’s Mayor and Councilmembers who share their insights, opinions, and expertise with City staff and leaders on environmental and sustainability-related issues and initiatives. Their primary focus of late has been delving into what to include in the City’s Recycling and Solid Waste Management Plan. And MSAC members will do that again on Tuesday.
This guiding document, sometimes shortened to RSWMP, will establish a 10-year plan for the City to manage solid waste collection and disposal, work toward sustainability goals, and improve efficiency and consistency in recycling and solid waste collections. Even if and when it’s approved, the RSWMP will not change who collects trash and recycling in Milton, though it might include recommendations for possible future action along those lines.

After Tuesday’s discussion on this plan, MSAC will hear and share updates on past, present, and future sustainability-related initiatives.
This committee’s next meeting, after the one this week, is scheduled for Tuesday, April 14.
