Road safety survey opens; Freemanville and Hopewell open house set

Post Date:03/10/2026 1:18 PM

Freemanville segment 3 layoutCitizens can continue shaping transportation-focused safety improvements in two ways over the coming weeks – by taking a brief survey and attending an engaging Open House.

Both pertain to the City’s Safety in Action initiative, which utilizes a $1 million federal Safe Streets for All (SS4A) grant to guide targeted upgrades to make Milton’s transportation network safer for drivers, pedestrians, and bicyclists. The project focuses on three components: creating an Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Transition Plan with recommendations, developing and testing out new safety countermeasures around roundabouts, plus improving safety and traffic flow along Freemanville and Hopewell roads.

Gathering community input is pivotal to the success of this multi-faceted effort, including these new opportunities:

  • TAKE THE LATEST SAFETY IN ACTION SURVEY, which can be accessed at www.miltonga.gov/SafetyInActionSurvey and should only take a few minutes to complete. This focuses on prioritizing ADA-related accessibility improvements, possible safety-minded roundabout upgrades, as well as vegetation and other potential changes to Freemanville and Hopewell Roads.

  • ATTEND A MARCH 23 OPEN HOUSE, which will run from 5:30-7 p.m. that Monday in City Hall’s Council Chambers. People can drop-in anytime to view large displays of  draft conceptual designs for proposed safety improvements along Hopewell and Freemanville roads, which are major north-south corridors in Milton. They then can share their opinions, offer new ideas, or ask questions about the proposals. (You can view those draft conceptual layouts online at https://www.miltonga.gov/home/showdocument?id=9109.)

In addition, project team members will hear from the public at community events such as the Community Egg Hunt coming up on Saturday, March 21, at the Cambridge High School athletic complex.

These mark the latest of many public engagement efforts for the Safety in Action project. You can learn more about this initiative at www.miltonga.gov/SafetyInAction.
