The Milton Trails Advisory Committee will convene late Thursday afternoon to discuss a possible revision to the Trail Blueprint map as well as the make-up of potential paths.
The March 26 meeting will start at 4:45 p.m. in City Hall’s Council Chambers. People are welcome to attend in-person or watch online at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pdnECUdy1sQ.
Commonly referred to as MTAC, the Milton Trails Advisory Committee is comprised of seven people appointed by the City’s Mayor and Councilmembers. They share insights, opinions, and advice with City staff and leadership on Milton’s trails system, including sidewalks and paths.
MTAC’s primary focus over the past year-plus has been the Milton Trail Blueprint Map. This is an element of City Code that shows current and possibly future paths and sidewalks. Its first iteration was approved in 2007, with several updates since. This committee has been looking at the next batch of revisions, which would have to be approved by Council in order to be updated in the City Code. (Any revisions are only suggestions, as any design plans for a future project still must be approved separately by Council.)
This Trail Blueprint Map focus will continue on Thursday. Among other potential items, MTAC will follow-up on a discussion about Crabapple-area trails around the Braeburn subdivision.
The meeting’s other agenda item pertains to the City’s Safety in Action initiative, which is a targeted effort aimed at making Milton safer for drivers, pedestrians, and bicyclists. This project – which you can learn more about at www.miltonga.gov/SafetyInAction -- has three prongs. The one that will be discussed Thursday pertains to potential pedestrian-minded and other safety improvements off Freemanville and Hopewell roads.
Specifically, MTAC members will offer input on project ideas for both corridors.
After this meeting, the Milton Trails Advisory Committee is next scheduled to convene on April 23.
