Dozens of residents shared their thoughts Wednesday evening about the future of Redd Road – including specific ideas (with corresponding concept layouts for them to view) aimed at improving congestion, safety, and pedestrian facilities along this critical connecting corridor.
The City is exploring ways to make Redd Road safer and have traffic along it flow better, with a focus on a handful of key intersections. You can learn about the possibilities under consideration, as well as exactly where, at www.miltonga.gov/ReddRoad. And at the bottom of that webpage, you’ll find a feedback form for people to send in their suggestions, insights, and questions whenever they can get online.
On March 25, roughly 50 attendees asked their questions and made their pitch in-person inside Community Place. Around the room, they found large displays of the Redd Road improvement ideas as well as project team members eager to talk to them and answer specific questions about the displays.
This outreach effort comes relatively early in the process of upgrading Redd Road and is critical to helping shape the development of necessary elements along the corridor. The City still needs to incorporate all the amazing public input and get City Council approval before the project can move forward with possible layouts for any improvements for this multifaceted TSPLOST-funded project.
If and when the Council approves the proposed layouts, the City can work with the engineers to move forward with a more defined design and work towards acquiring any right-of-way land that might be needed to make that happen. Only after that – and after construction contracts are awarded – can work begin. It’s possible, too, that work at some locations will happen sooner than others, and that some may not happen at all.
