If you’re doing some spring cleaning – and, in the process, find a bunch of electronics you want to get rid of – you’re in luck.
The City of Milton will hold its next Electronics Recycling Event from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 18. It will be held in the Milton City Hall parking lot at 2006 Heritage Walk, with the City partnering once again with our friends at Junkluggers to safely, effectively collect and responsible dispose of the dropped-off electronics.
This will work much like similar events in the past, with a large assortment of items that can be disposed of for free with just two exceptions -- $20 for a television (no rear projections please!) and $10 for every monitor.
The items can be discarded – and then recycled in an environmentally-friendly way – at no-cost to you include:
- Small kitchen appliances (as big as a mini-refrigerator, essentially)
- Vacuums
Copiers, printers, and scanners
- Network equipment and modems
- Fax machines
- Keyboards and “mice”
- Wires and cable (including computer power supplies)
In addition, people can bring in their personal computers (laptops among them) as well as phones. Our recycling partners will be R2 certified in data-sensitive device destruction, meaning they can safely handle, clear, and/or destroy items such as these that may contain personal information.
This initiative is one of many run by the City in the spirit of sustainability, namely finding ways to work with our community for the good of the environment. (You can find other examples at www.miltonga.gov/Sustainability.) It also happens to fall in the middle of what is Milton’s Earth Week, a multi-faceted celebration aimed at connecting, engaging, and involving the public in environmentally-minded events and activities.
