Wildflower installation at Milton City Park and Preserve is officially underway. This project consists of three basic phases, all designed to enhance the existing natural landscape.
Phase 1 includes the initial mowing, and it has already begun. This is a very important part of the process. Crews are reducing the existing vegetation in the
area in order to create the right conditions for new seed to take hold. Preparing the ground in this way helps improve seed-to-soil contact and supports stronger, more consistent growth.
Crews began delivering equipment on Monday and will start ground preparation today. They are preparing approximately 11 acres, working through an estimated 2 to 3 acres per day. Crews will properly prep each section before they begin seeding.
As crews finish preparing an area, the project will enter Phase 2—seeding. Using different equipment, they will seed sections that include both open spaces and areas near the boardwalks.
The goal is to complete all seeding by April 15. Once this is done, crews will begin pressure washing and staining the boardwalks. Access in those areas may be impacted during this time, so please be patient.
After building a strong foundation for the seeds and the actual planting, Phase 3 begins—blooming wildflowers that will flourish and add color to the park's natural beauty.
