Equestrian Committee to talk Meet the Neighbors, survey, summer camp

Post Date:04/14/2026 2:13 PM

Boy on the HorseThe Milton Equestrian Committee will meet Wednesday night to explore the possibility of the City offering a horse-themed summer camp on a Milton farm.

That’s one of a handful of items on the agenda for the April 15 meeting, which should start at 6:30 p.m. in City Hall’s Council Chambers. People can attend in-person or watch online at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H-f34Sq-IfM

Sometimes referred to as MEC, the Milton Equestrian Committee consists of seven members appointed by the City’s Mayor and Councilmembers. It considers matters of importance to the local equestrian community, as well as farm and other large-lot owners, sharing insights, opinions, and expertise with City staff and leaders.

MEC also supports the City at a few events, one of which will happen from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Saturday, April 18. Committee members will get an update on what’s planned and talk about their involvement in this free, horse-themed event in the City’s pasture-filled 21-acre greenspace at the intersection of Freemanville and Birmingham roads.

The meeting’s next agenda item relates to the creation, and dissemination, of a possible public input survey. This would target equestrians, those who live on farms, and/or large-lot owners in order to get a better grasp on their satisfaction, suggestions, and more.

Lastly, MEC will discuss the potential for an equestrian camp for youngsters at a local farm. This would not happen this summer, though the hope is that it can be offered (coordinated through Milton’s Parks and Recreation Department, as with other camps) in summer 2027.

After Wednesday, the Equestrian Committee is next scheduled to convene on May 20.
