Milton seeks public input for Fulton County hazard mitigation plan update

Post Date:04/24/2026 2:48 PM
The City of Milton is participating in a countywide effort led by the Atlanta-Fulton County Emergency Management Agency to update the Multi-JurisdictionalAFCEMA Logo Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP) for Fulton County. This plan identifies potential hazards and outlines strategies to reduce the impact of natural disasters and other emergencies on our community.

To remain eligible for disaster mitigation grants and post-disaster assistance following a Presidential Disaster Declaration, the HMP must be updated and approved every five years by the Georgia Emergency Management Agency/Homeland Security and the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Over the next year, AFCEMA will conduct planning meetings and outreach with jurisdictions throughout Fulton County. This process will result in an updated, countywide HMP that includes specific mitigation strategies for the City of Milton and will remain in effect for five years.

Public input is a critical component of this effort. Milton residents are strongly encouraged to complete a brief survey to share feedback on local hazards and community priorities. Your participation will help inform planning decisions and strengthen the City’s ability to secure future FEMA grant funding for mitigation projects.

Reminder: Public surveys must be completed by May 15, 2026.
