Due to the real potential of inclement weather, Milton’s annual Memorial Day Ceremony is moving indoors to City Hall.
This special event will still take place on Monday, May 25, starting at 10 a.m. But instead of happening on the Green at Crabapple Market, it will occur across Heritage Walk inside City Hall’s Council Chambers.
The change stems from the possibility of storms that could make an outdoors event unsafe or, at the least, messily inconvenient.
And because of it, people will now have the option of watching the ceremony – either live or later – online via this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SR8yUvik42g.
The program remains the same regardless of the location, featuring patriotic performances by local musicians as well as remarks by veterans and Mayor Peyton Jamison.
Retired 1st Lt. Ginny Dornheggen, an Army combat nurse in Vietnam and recent inductee into the Georgia Military Veterans Hall of Fame, will be the keynote speaker.
We welcome all residents to City Hall on Monday morning to join our community in paying tribute to the brave U.S. military men and women who sacrificed it all for the sake of their country.
