Milton’s City Council will salute its court clerk team, as well as promote life-saving CPR and AED use, when it convenes Monday night in City Hall.
The June 1 meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in Council Chambers (2006 Heritage Walk). Citizens are welcome to watch online at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h9FYKpx8ovg or attend in-person.
This Regular Meeting’s agenda consists of two sections. Most of the items are on the Consent Agenda, which is the place for routine matters that the Council considers collectively – so a single yes-no vote that covers all items.
This will be followed by “Reports and Presentations,” which is where you’ll find items such as proclamations, reports, and presentations during which the Council may ask questions or offer general feedback but cannot take definitive votes.
Below are summaries of every item on Monday’s agenda.
CONSENT AGENDA
- Approval of the May 18, 2026, Regular City Council Meeting Minutes.
The Council will vote on approving the “minutes,” or official written record, chronicling what happened when they last convened on May 18. At this Regular Meeting, the Council voted to eliminate the “Festivals” use from Milton’s Unified Development Code – a measure to remove an underutilized option that will
not prevent special events from enriching our community. The same meeting also featured proclamations for Memorial Day, as well as honoring members of the City’s Public Works and Police departments. A full recap of this meeting can be found HERE: https://www.miltonga.gov/Home/Components/News/News/3525/1351.
- Approval of the Financial Statements & Investment Report for the Period Ending February 28, 2026.
This item is to approve the City of Milton government’s financial statements and investment report from this past February.
- Approval of Subdivision Plats and Revisions - Minor Plat for 14771 Hopewell Road.
This proposed plat revision would reconfigure property lines for two existing parcels – totaling 6.65 acres, with each of the resulting lots being at least 3 acres – at 14771 Hopewell Road, which is not far from the Francis/Cogburn/Hopewell roundabout. No new lots would be created, nor would the overall size change.
- Approval of a Contract Amendment to Transfer Assignment of a Contract from BM&K, Inc. to LJA Engineering, Inc.
Dating back to 2022, the City has had many Professional Services Agreements and related Task Orders with BM&K. That construction and engineering
company has been acquired by LJA Engineering, with their merger becoming official this past April. This proposed contract amendment would formally transfer references on pertinent City documents from BM&K to its new name of LJA Engineering. There is no financial impact.
- Approval of Service Agreement between the City of Milton and Spectrum Fence, LLC for Perimeter Fencing at Lakhapani Preserve along Lackey Road and Sweetapple Road.
This refers to an agreement for Spectrum Fence to replacing aging fencing and install new fencing as needed around the perimeter of Lakhapani Preserve, the City’s 106-acre greenspace off Lackey Road. This fencing should better define park boundaries, improve safety, enhance the overall appearance of the property, and help discourage unauthorized ATV and motorized bike access.
- Approval of a Construction Services Agreement with Summit Construction and Development, LLC for Legacy Park Parking Lot Improvements.
Legacy Park is a busy, 8.5-acre athletic complex off Cox Road featuring two full-sized, multi-sport turf fields plus an additional half-sized turf field. Its current
parking area, consisting of milled asphalt and gravel over a deteriorated base, is oftentimes insufficient to suit the needs of the many who utilize this facility.
With approval of this Construction Services Agreement, Summit Construction and Development crews would expand the parking area from 65 to 127 spaces while converting it to asphalt. Expanded stormwater detention, enhanced parking lot lighting, and a new septic system (for the park’s restroom and maintenance building) are part of the project’s scope as well. So, too, are fencing the maintenance area, creating a dedicated dumpster location, and building a seating wall for spectators and Legacy Wall where impactful community members can be recognized.
Legacy Park will close to the public once construction starts, which is expected to happen in the coming weeks.
REPORTS AND PRESENTATIONS
- Proclamation Recognizing Georgia Municipal Court Clerks Week and Lauding Our Outstanding Team at Milton Municipal Court.
Georgia Municipal Court Clerks Week is proclaimed annually by the Governor of Georgia to recognize and show public appreciation for the dedicated service of municipal court clerks. The week provides an opportunity to highlight the important role court clerks play in the local criminal justice system.
With this proclamation, the City of Milton will take advantage of this opportunity to formally recognize and celebrate the Milton Municipal Court Clerk team, consisting of Court Clerk Brooke Lappin and Deputy Court Clerk Wendy Lee. These two employees consistently demonstrate professionalism, empathy, and strong commitment to public service while working closely with judges, attorneys, law enforcement, and members of the public who appear before the court.

- Proclamation Celebrating Milton Earning a Prestigious Heart Safe Community Award and Recognizing CPR and AED Awareness Week.
The first National CPR and AED Awareness Week happened in 2008 to showcase the importance of cardiac health, CPR training, AED availability, and other factors in improving patients’ outcomes. Immediately performing CPR and using an AED can double, and sometimes triple, a person’s chance of survival. The Milton Fire-Rescue Department has numerous programs, tools, and initiatives related to this topic. These contributed to Milton being one of just two places nationwide this year to be honored (by the International Association of Fire Chiefs) with a Heart Safe Community Award.
