Scam alert for letter purporting to be from DRB, seeking payment

Post Date:06/10/2026 9:02 AM
General Scam Alert GraphicSomeone is falsely claiming to be a City committee — in this case, the Design Review Board — and demanding payment. It’s a scam.

The City became aware of just such a message sent to a recent applicant set to go before the DRB. The subject line: “Final Notice -Application Approval Fee Invoice Settlement Required.” There were a few tells that this was not legitimate like the email address (which doesn't exist in real life) and the fact the City would never request such a payment, especially in this way. (In fact, there are no fees associated with DRB demolition applications as this particular letter implied.)

While this scam might be targeted to a select few, it’s a good cybersecurity reminder for everyone. If you get an email that looks off for any number of reasons — particularly if it asks for money — be suspicious and prudent, careful not to click anywhere.
