Do you live or work on a horse farm in Milton? And do you not want the animals there to be jolted by fireworks blasting overhead?

Then just put them by your property (out of the right-of-way). They remind anyone passing by -- perhaps that neighbor who might have been thinking of having an explosive July 4th bash -- that you have horses on your land, which means fireworks cannot be set off nearby.

 

That's because of a regulation, which took effect last year, prohibiting fireworks within 200 yards of the border of any property housing "equines." The reason: Fireworks and horses is not a good, or particularly safe, combination. Many of these large, powerful animals are inclined to be alarmed when there are blasts in the sky -- which can lead them to lose control, run away, or hurt themselves or others.
