Come to City Hall the evening of June 29 to learn about and contribute to one of Milton’s most pivotal guiding documents.

That’s a reference to the Comprehensive Plan Update, which articulates a community-driven vision for Milton’s future as well as projects, programs, and other efforts to help the city progress toward that ideal. (Every local government in Georgia must revise its Comprehensive Plan every five years – a process that Milton has been working on over the last few months.)

Anyone can drop-in at Council Chambers for this 2026 Comprehensive Plan Update Open House anytime between 6 and 8 p.m. that Monday. (Given the format, there will be no video stream of this event.)

The City’s upcoming iteration of its “Comp Plan Update” will not be a wholesale rewrite but rather a measured, deliberate update on several key fronts. The 16-member Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee (CPAC) has been offering valuable input and opinions with the project team as part of this months-long process. The June 29 event is an opportunity for citizens to see what has been accomplished thus far, ask questions, and share their views.

Stations set up around the room will focus on relevant topics that have been discussed by CPAC and other elements that could be folded into the ultimate Comprehensive Plan Update. The latter includes incorporating aspects of other key plans that the City Council has approved over the past five years – which also means documenting progress that’s been made – like the Comprehensive Transportation Plan, Arnold Small Area Plan, District at Mayfield Concept Plan, plus elements of the multi-faceted Destination Deerfield initiative.

Attendees can learn relevant context and give their thoughts on several broad categories that will be part of the 2026 Comprehensive Plan Update – specifically land use, economic development, transportation, and sustainability.

Insights and information gathered from this meeting can help inform the updated Plan’s next “short-term work program.” This consists of prioritized, actionable projects to help guide City decision-makers through 2031.

The City’s draft of the 2026 Comprehensive Plan Update is expected to be transmitted to the State later this summer. A City Council vote on its final adoption should take place in October.
