Goals on the Green watch party a win-win for World Cup, U.S. fans

Post Date:06/22/2026 1:15 PM

Goals on the Green Presented by the Reid Casey Team for the win … times two.

The first winners were the hundreds who packed downtown Crabapple on the afternoon of Friday, June 19, to enjoy warm food, cool treats, great company, and a World Cup game on a big, big screen. After a wet start to the week, Mother Nature stepped up by providing a Goldilocks-like day – not too hot, not too cold, just right – making the atmosphere that much more fun and festive.

Regular Dimensions. Cheer First Goal US vs Australia DSC_0221The City’s fellow event hosts from Rush Union Soccer (taking the lead with soccer-themed activities) and Crabapple Market (for providing the space and helping with planning) also helped this first-of-its-kind event extra special.

The other victor? The U.S. men’s national soccer team, which soundly defeated Australia by a 2-0 score – much to the delight of the supportive watch party watchers – in the game itself. That result cinched first place in the group for Americans, meaning they’re assured a spot in the knockout rounds. Before then, they’ll be back in action Thursday night to face-off against Turkiye.

Special thanks to the Reid Casey Team, along with fellow sponsors Nothing Bundt Cakes and the Bonnie Smith Group, for their support of this welcoming community event. And we plan to do it again in the same place on Sunday, July 19 (again from 1 to 5 p.m.) for another World Cup Watch Party – this one time to the tournament’s final.

In the meantime, people are encouraged to take in games at one of the many Milton Watch Spots around town. These are restaurants and such in the city where you can see World Cup action. It’s been a great start so far to this tournament, and there are several more weeks still to go!
