New interchange at McGinnis Ferry Road and State Route 400 opens

IMG_5037The new interchange at McGinnis Ferry Road and State Route 400 is now open.

The Georgia Department of Transportation has been working on this project for years, aiming to alleviate congestion at other on- and off-ramps while opening a new valuable route. In fact, this effectively doubles the number of Milton’s own highway exits overnight; and it's Exit 11A.

The City itself is extremely cognizant that there can be issues whenever a stretch of road becomes busier. To that point, we proactively reached out to GDOT colleagues to stay special attention to Bethany Bend and other nearby city streets – and to adjust the timing of signals or do other things to minimize back-ups and any possible negative effects.

We are hopeful the new interchange will be a boon for Milton businesses, since it abuts the city’s main commercial district. Their customers, clients, and employees now have another Milton option – in addition to Windward Parkway – to access this key highway. Residents have a new way in-and-out of 400 as well.

The addition means that there are now easy ways in-and-out of 400 on both ends of Milton’s Deerfield district. This is a plus for current and future companies who call this area home, especially given the multi-faceted Destination Deerfield effort to make this section of southeast Milton a vibrant, connected, and dynamic place.
