The City of Milton welcomed scores of residents to City Hall late last month to help shape Milton’s 2026 Comprehensive Plan Update.

The June 29 event gave residents the opportunity to share their input surrounding the update, which builds off the 2040 Comprehensive Plan in outlining priority projects to consider tackling over the next five years. 

During the Open House, people visited stations set up around Council Chambers to dive deeper into each prominent topic in the Comprehensive Plan Update and share what was most important to them. These categories were land use and housing, economic development, future land use, placemaking and branding, transportation, and sustainability. 

Throughout the event, residents identified what they thought the city should prioritize. Maintaining Milton’s identity – such as by attracting small-scale local businesses and development that reflect the City’s uniqueness – was among the common themes. 

Actively engaging with residents and taking their viewpoints into consideration when pursuing plans, policies, or projects is a hallmark of Milton’s government. This recent Open House served as a prime example, with citizens making their voices heard by adding stickers to boards and sharing comments with project team members. 

Their valuable opinions will help inform the final draft of the 2026 Comprehensive Plan Update, as will feedback from the City Council. Ultimately, the Comp Plan Update must be reviewed by the State of Georgia because Council can vote on its final adoption this coming fall.
