A hot summer hasn’t cooled down progress on the Freemanville Road bridge replacement.

The Georgia Department of Transportation contractor, Williams Contracting, that’s undertaking this important project reports that things are on schedule to erect the new bridge and reopen the road within the planned 5-month timeframe (which works out to late October).

As these overhead photos show, the old bridge (south of Providence Road) is long gone with Cooper Sandy Creek still flowing where it once stood. Crews are working hard around the site in anticipation of setting the prestressed concrete beams and building the superstructure later this summer.

Thank you to all residents for their understanding and patience, including following the needed related detours, over the course of this project. Here’s to hoping that everything continues to move along positively, and that drivers will be traversing a brand new bridge before they know it.
