Legacy Park parking lot-plus project continues to progress

Post Date:07/16/2026 2:33 PM
DSC_2941The new footprint for Legacy Park’s expanded parking lot is in place. And that’s just part of this progressing project.

Over the last few weeks, crews have been hard at work in and around the City’s 8.5-acre athletic complex at Cox Road (by the Arnold Mill Road intersection). Their first order of business was clearing space to essentially double the number of available parking spaces. This is much needed given how quickly spots filled up when the park’s two full-size and one half-size fields were occupied. The project scope includes transforming this soon-to-be-larger parking area from gravel to asphalt as well as enhancing lighting around it.

The City’s contractor is also installing pipes and other measures to improve stormwater detention. In addition, the septic system (which serves the bathroom and maintenance buildings) will be replaced. Other changes in the works are fencing off the maintenance area, creating a dedicated dumpster location, and constructing a seating wall of spectators. Ultimately, a Legacy Wall will be added to memorialize outstanding, impactful late members of the local athletic community.

The entire project is on track to finish up by the end of August, as planned. Until then, Legacy Park and its fields are closed to the public.
