Milton’s Board of Zoning Appeals will meet Tuesday to consider a single variance request related to a nearly 7-acre property off Freemanville Road.

The July 21 meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in City Hall’s Council Chambers. People can watch the proceedings online at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fRspEUDo6ik or attend in-person. 

BZA, as this committee is also known, is a quasi-judicial body that hears appeals to City decisions related to Milton’s Unified Development Code, stream buffers, and sign permits. Its seven members (who are appointed by Milton’s Mayor and Councilmembers) also vote on variance request, like the one to be considered Tuesday. The Unified Development Code guides its decisions, which can be appealed to Fulton County Superior Court. 

The request on Tuesday’s agenda pertains to 14880 Freemanville Road, a 6.98-acre lot north of Rolling Links Drive. The applicant is asking for a variance so that a new garage can be located technically in front of a to-be-constructed single-family home. The property has substantial existing tree screening, and the proposed garage would not be visible from Freemanville Road. 

After this meeting, the Board of Zoning Appeals is next scheduled to convene on August 18.
